Andrej Blatnik is a Slovene writer, editor, translator and university professor. He was born in Ljubljana in 1963, and holds a PhD in communication studies. After working as a fiction editor for the Cankarjeva publishing house, he now teaches creative writing and book studies as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He has published twelve books in Slovenia, including three books of theory, and his work has been translated into many languages. His short stories appear in numerous anthologies worldwide. Blatnik has won major Slovenian literary awards and he has had numerous readings around the world. He is the president of the jury for Vilenica award, given to writers from Central Europe. One of stories was adapted into a short film and another to a TV drama.He also writes for radio and translates from English, among others, he translated Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar and The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles.
