Augustin Cupsa was born in 1980 in Romania. He studied Psychiatry in Bucharest. In 2006, he published his first book, which won several debut prizes and nominations. In the same year, he won the HBO Romania Prize for short script and the European Alliance for Television and Culture scholarship to study screenwriting. He collaborated with different television channels, wrote short scripts and participated in the adaptation of the two seasons of “In Treatment” for HBO Romania. In 2011, he published a new short story collection, and two years later, another one, The Great Joys and The Great Sorrows , which was nominated for Fiction Book of the Year at the Romanian Book Industry Awards. Some of his short stories were included in Romanian anthologies and translated into Swedish, Turkish, English, and Slovenian.
