Bella Shaier is an Israeli writer. She lives in Tel Aviv. She used to work as a systems analyst and has a master’s degree in literature from Tel Aviv University. Her short stories have been published in many magazines in Israel and earned critical acclaim. Her first book, Children’s Mate, published in 2011, awarded her the Ramat Gan Prize for Debut Literature and was among the five shortlisted books for the Sapir Prize. The book won the Rabinovich Foundation scholarship for an English translation. Her story, “The Act Itself,” from this collection, was made into a film.
