Itamar Orlev was born in 1975 in Jerusalem. He has published short stories in prominent Israeli literary magazines, such as Moznaim, Massmerim, and Mitaam. His first novel, Bandit, won the 2015 Sapir Prize for a first novel and the 2015 Rabinowitz Foundation translation scholarship. His play, Blindness, won first prize at the 2009 Beit Lessin Theatre Open Stage festival. He is a graduate of the Screenwriting Program at Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem and has a bachelor’s degree in History from Tel Aviv University. He works as an editor and ghostwriter and lives in Berlin with his wife, Leanne, and their two sons, Daniel and Alex.
