Kristina Schilke was born in 1986 in Chelyabinsk, Russia and emigrated to Grafenau in the Bavarian Forest with her family in 1994. After studying at the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig, she wrote for the pop culture magazine Spex and the film magazine Schnitt, and worked as a junior storyliner for the German early evening soap, “Verbotene Liebe” (“Forbidden Love”) and as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for evolutionary anthropology. She currently works for the public broadcasting company MDR. The 2016 short story collection Elefanten treffen (Meeting Elephants) is her first book.
