Rachel A. Levine played on the streets of Brooklyn when she was all of 3 years old, dug in sand lots with spoons, and ate her share of dirt. She was blessed with parents who were themselves childlike and kind.  And funny.  Her family provided me with a lifetime of  “material.” Of course, sorrow, grief, and betrayal were woven into the fabric of her life, as they are in everyone’s lives.Â
