Yeshayahu Koren is an Israeli writer. He was born in Kfar Saba, Israel in 1940 and studied philosophy and Hebrew literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. For many years he worked for Israel’s department of defense and was also a teacher and a pedagogic consultant. He began publishing short stories in the early 1960s. Koren has published five collections of stories and novellas, and one novel. His stories were also published in Haaretz newspaper and in literary magazines. In 2008 he was awarded the Bialik Prize for his body of work, and in 2013 he received the Brenner Prize for his book Two Palms and a Word. He currently lives in Zichron Ya’akov.
