Submit Stories

 

We welcome original short stories and literary translations for publication on The Short Story Project.
Please read the following submission guidelines carefully:

 

Original Stories

• Stories may be up to 2,500 words in length and may address any theme or topic.
• The author must be the sole rights holder of the submitted work.
• By sending the text for consideration, the author confirms full ownership of all rights.
• Each author may submit one story per quarter (up to four submissions per year).
• Due to the high volume of submissions, we will respond only to entries that meet the submission requirements.

 

Stories should be sent as a Word document to:

Stories@shortstoryproject.com

 

Please include:

• The author’s full name
• The story title
• A short bio

Selected stories will be edited collaboratively with the author and professionally proofread before publication.

 

 

Translations
For translated works:

• The submitter must hold the translation rights.
• Please attach written permission from the original rights holder (author, agency, or publisher).
• Include relevant professional background and experience in literary translation.

 

 

Rights and Publication

– We do not require exclusivity, previously published stories are welcome.

– Copyright remains at all times with the author.

– Publication on our website requires the author’s consent and agreement to the above terms.
