Ilka Papp Zakor is a Romanian writer. She was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and it was there that she learned to read and write. She wrote her first text when she was only four: it was a lullaby for a mouse. She speaks Russian, Polish, English, Romanian, and Hungarian, and she studied Russian and Hungarian philology in Cluj-Napoca. After receiving a master’s degree in Hungarian she moved to Helsinki, Finland, where she semi-officially attended biology courses at the university. She also improved her mouse-training skills, and finally moved back to Central Europe, to Budapest. The manuscript to her first book won the JAK-kendő award and was published in 2015.
